‘Black Hole Science’ experiments to stay warm after snow
My second entry for the 2026 Trans Rights Readathon. A college course that excited me was on religious themes in literature. My favorite part of ‘Black Hole Science’ is called ‘Lives of the Saints.’

Thank you for the strange fiction of ‘Rainbear!!!!!!!!!’
My first entry for the 2026 Trans Rights Readathon. Living past hope, everything matters and nothing matters. This doesn’t make sense, so it’s tough to resolve it. But this book drills into it.

People need to be allowed to keep their ID cards
I hope everyone is aware of the threat to đłď¸â⧠ď¸trans Kansansâ IDs. If I had a Kansas ID, Kansas would ask me to surrender my ID. It’s nonsense. There’s never been a reckoning. Anti-trans moral panic is hotter than ever.

We need to talk about the Heritage Foundation âenchiladaâ
If youâre trans, lesbian, gay, bi, or a woman, youâre not safe from these people. The version of the USA that the Heritage Foundation wants is governed by whiteness and by Christian authority. Don’t let them do this to people of any age.

Beast, in or out of a net
Art by Tucker Lieberman. Everything moves in the twilight: the beast, the net, the Moon, the Earth it orbits, you. Nothing dances in the same place twice.

6 things mystified me in the trans film âI Saw the TV Glowâ
This 2024 movie is tough to crack, but finally I think I get it. In art, opaque describes a substance you expect to see through but can’t: paint, glass, a thin layer. Metaphorically, it’s something you can’t understand.

Trans kids are found in history, too
Histories of the Transgender Child by Jules Gill-Peterson. Adults should acknowledge that ‘trans childhood is a happy and desired formâ.’ Itâs not a new phenomenon. Itâs ‘richly, beautifully historical.’

Did lady pirates button their shirts?
Yes. Art you may have seen to the contrary wasnât realistic. Just because youâve seen a naked image of a trans person doesnât mean trans people walk around naked. Pirates too were motivated to button their shirts.

Liberation projects, art appreciation, and perceptions of the past
From my June 2024 reading list. The bird has flown, but the stone has not yet been thrown. Perhaps in the future it will come to mean something.

Is it about time, bodies, or both?
âTrans Talmudâ by Max K. Strassfeld. Is this a question about timeââwhat we think we know about the past and future? Or is it about bodiesââhow we sexually classify them? Or both?

âOverawed by the marvelâ of trans
A new miniprayerbook. When we sanctify something, it changes. I think Heschel would understand and would like to continue to live and change and cast and reflect light.

When the Nazis criminalized gay men
A story of persecution in âThe Men with the Pink Triangleâ by Heinz Heger. The Nazis viewed gay people as weakening the gender binary. Gay men could be punished for âlewdness,â including simply hugging each other: prison or death.
