‘Black Hole Science’ experiments to stay warm after snow
My second entry for the 2026 Trans Rights Readathon. A college course that excited me was on religious themes in literature. My favorite part of ‘Black Hole Science’ is called ‘Lives of the Saints.’
Thank you for the strange fiction of ‘Rainbear!!!!!!!!!’
My first entry for the 2026 Trans Rights Readathon. Living past hope, everything matters and nothing matters. This doesn’t make sense, so it’s tough to resolve it. But this book drills into it.
People need to be allowed to keep their ID cards
I hope everyone is aware of the threat to đłď¸â⧠ď¸trans Kansansâ IDs. If I had a Kansas ID, Kansas would ask me to surrender my ID. It’s nonsense. There’s never been a reckoning. Anti-trans moral panic is hotter than ever.
We need to talk about the Heritage Foundation âenchiladaâ
If youâre trans, lesbian, gay, bi, or a woman, youâre not safe from these people. The version of the USA that the Heritage Foundation wants is governed by whiteness and by Christian authority. Don’t let them do this to people of any age.
Beast, in or out of a net
Art by Tucker Lieberman. Everything moves in the twilight: the beast, the net, the Moon, the Earth it orbits, you. Nothing dances in the same place twice.
6 things mystified me in the trans film âI Saw the TV Glowâ
This 2024 movie is tough to crack, but finally I think I get it. In art, opaque describes a substance you expect to see through but can’t: paint, glass, a thin layer. Metaphorically, it’s something you can’t understand.
Will SCOTUS let parents and doctors support trans kids?
The case over youth gender-affirming care: United States vs. Skrmetti. Tennessee still claims science backs its position when demonstrably it doesn’t. The ACLU & Biden admin say this is discrimination against trans people.
Once again, itâs not about sports
Why trans allies objected to Seth Moultonâs comments last month. This ‘idea’ is not fully baked because it’s not consistent even about whether it would regulate adults or children. This is not about sports.
Anti-trans feminism since the 1960s
After a couple of recent essays by Sophie Lewis chronicling this movement. Particularly because the anti-trans movement is fond of suggesting that trans people sprang into existence yesterday, I’m fascinated with timelines.
Would you work with the âAlliance Defending Freedomâ?
A 2022 BindelâJoyce debate in which Joyce calls my gender âan attack on the whole institution of civilizationâ. She thinks she’s preserving ‘the Enlightenment,’ ‘evidence,’ ‘stable meanings,’ ‘how you do science’, ‘the whole institution of civilization.’
LGBTQ+ people are not going back: No sham elections
Getting real with ourselves and with our leaders. We need autonomy. We need livable outcomes. If a candidate supports who we are and how we live, we may be able to support them. If they don’t, we can’t.
Iâm not reading this type of U.S. election postmortem
Trans people shouldnât be blamed. Yes, Republicans spent lots of money on ads. On the level of the horse race, I don’t care why Trump won the election. I care that trans people will survive.
